K&ESR D4118 (08 888) To Work Its First Passenger Train this May 2019

POSTPONED: This excursion has been postponed because 08888 isn’t ready to enter traffic despite best hopes. The tour has been delayed until Saturday 13th July 2019

Due to additional work being required on 08,888, KESR have advised that this charter is now CANCELLED. Anyone who booked should have received a refund. This working will no longer go ahead.

Kent and East Sussex Railway’s resident shunter number 08 888 (D4118) will haul its first passenger train this May.

The Class 08 shunter will haul the Branch Line Society’s ‘The Andrew Wilson (‘Brillo’) Memorial Charter’ on Saturday 4th May 2019.

08888 was purchased in December 2016 and moved to the Kent and East Sussex Railway by road, in its working EWS livery. Late 2018, it was painted into BR dark green livery.

08888 has never worked a passenger train before, only ever used for shunting so this will be its first passenger working anywhere.

Requested timings for 08 888’s passenger train. Bookings can be made on the Branch Line Society website.

Another shunter will be on the rear to assist with reversals.
